Special Events

Lunch & Bingo -Come to the Bellefontaine Neighbors Recreation Center for good food, good company and a few games of friendly bingo. Pre-registration is required for this popular event and the limit is 40 people. Fee covers lunch with dessert and beverage, two bingo cards and prizes. Some months will have an extra bonus date and you can only enroll in one or the other. If there is still space in the second bingo on the Friday before, those attending the first bingo can again sign up to come to the second. Please check with the Recreation Center staff for registration restrictions. These special events run 11:30 AM to approximately 1:30 PM.

Mature Men's Billiards and Ping Pong-Get out of the house! Join your friends and make some new ones the fourth Thursday of each month. Shoot a little pool, play ping pong or just visit. The choice is yours. The game room will be reserved for participants of this program. Coffee will be provided and soda and snacks are available for purchase. This is held the 4th Thursday of each month.

  • Free for residents with ID card and 1 guest

Exercise Classes

  • Minimum age is 15
  • Missed classes cannot be made up.
  • Participants can attend only those classes for which they register
  • Fees are per session of classes that meets once a week. Classes may be taken in any combination to accommodate individual needs

Water Exercise

  • June 7 - August 2 (8 weeks)
    • No class July 5
    • Monday through Thursday - Residents $16.00 Nonresidents $20.00
    • Any class not full can be attended as "Pay-as-You-Go" Residents $3.00 Nonresidents $3.50

Aqua Fitness – Continuous resistance exercise designed to improve breathing, circulation and muscle tone. Class is held in the shallow end of the pool; no swimming ability is necessary.

Senior Swim – This hour long open swim program is available to residents and Nonresidents ages 50 years and older and provides a pleasant atmosphere to exercise and socialize. Participants will exercise at their own pace, no instructor is provided. Participation for this class is Pay-as-You-Go.

Toning - Exercises focusing on the arms, legs and stomach. Exercises are held in the shallow end of the pool using various types of resistance. Limit: 20

Water Aerobics – High level cardiovascular exercises performed to music. Limit: 28

Hydro Fitness - This challenging class combines cardiovascular and muscle strengthening for a high-energy, full-body work-out. Note: This class is not advised for those with health concerns. Participants must be confident with their water skills.

Water Walking - This class combines stretching and strength conditioning to improve range of motion and arthritis symptoms. It is especially beneficial for those just beginning an exercise program.

Gym Fitness

Aerobic Fitness - Participation in these classes will help improve breathing, raise your heart rate and energy level, increase flexibility and tone muscles, creating a trimmer figure. Each class includes a walking warm-up, 20 to 25 minutes of low-impact dance style aerobics, cool down and floor work. Instructor: Kathy Cross

Kickboxing Aerobics - This class starts with 5 to 10 minutes of warm-ups, 25 to 35 minutes using jab, hook, uppercut and kickboxing moves, 10 to 15 minutes of toning and 5 to 10 minutes of cool down and stretches. Instructor: Tricia Schneider

Core Fitness & Sculpting - This invigorating class begins with warm-up and progresses to a full-body, cardio workout with en emphasis on the core. Exercises include combination and kickboxing influenced moves, which incorporates kicks, crunches, punches, lunges and squats. The cool down includes sculpting and toning moves for arms, legs and stomach. Instructor- Tricia Schneider

Core and Strength Training - Tone your body and strenghtenyour core with this low-impact fitness class. Enhance balance and stability as you improve core strength and sculpt and tone all major muscle groups. Exercise include yoga moves,lunges, squats, presses and floor exercises. Use your own body weight for resistence or bring your own weights. Light hand wieghts (1 - 5 lbs.) recommended but not required.

Beginner Fitness- This low level, exercise program is intended for beginners who are not quite ready for a strenuous exercise program. Classes consist of basic yet comprehensive exercises that embrace every part of the body. and improves circulation, respiration and digestion. Instructor: Kathy Cross

Tennis

Adult Tennis Lessons - These small classes teach the sport of tennis at the participants' own pace and ability so tennis can be enjoyed throughout life. Classes are held outdoors at the St. Cyr Instructor: USTA Pro Willie Rodgers
