BELLEFONTAINE NEIGHBORS is hosting a FREE Electronic Recycling Event on June 16th from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. in our parking lot. We are partnering with WITS to reuse and recycle all sorts of items; nothing is going to landfills. Some of the items accepted will be: computers, monitors, printers, office equipment, TVs, radios, phones, holiday lights, old mowers, etc...there is a $5 charge for certain items; please refer to the May 2012 edition of the City Newsletter or call 382-1650 for more information. There are many activities sponsored by the Rec Center. Some of the events are: Casino trips; Fairmount Park; and much more. Get involved and have fun at the same time! Call 867-0700 if you have any questions. Also, there are many activities for the kids; please check out the new Spring Brochure. The Bike Safety Rodeo is Saturday, May 19.

ANIMAL CLINIC - City Hall is hosting an animal clinic on Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. til 12:00. Please click Animal Clinic 2012 for more information. If you are a Bellefontaine Neighbors resident, you will need to renew your dog tag for 2012-2013 ($2); tags expire in June.

Community Action Agency of St. Louis County sponsors many informational events. Please click on Money Smart Week to check out the activites for the week of April 21-28.

MEMORIAL DAY CELEBRATION

Join us for the City's Memorial Day Celebration on Monday, May 28th beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Klein Park (Chambers & Bellefontaine Road). Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service. After the service, there will be hotdogs and refreshments at Knights of Columbus, provided by Bill's Meat Market, American Legion Post 335, Knights of Columbus and the City of Bellefontaine Neighbors. Police and Parents Unite Against Substance Abuse - The Bellefontaine Neighbors Police have united with TestMyTeen.com. "For years, police have been the first to know when kids used drugs while their parents were often the last to know. We found a way to work together and can turn that around," says Chief Pruett. 2011 - St. Louis County SAVES is a Residential Energy Efficiency LOAN Program in which low interest loans are available to St. Louis County Homeowners for upgrades that improve comfort and reduce energy costs in their homes. Please see attached flyer for more information.

If you need help with utility bills, location of a food pantry, help with a child who has a learning disability, transportation, help with daycare, need temporary shelter or are in an abusive home, please contact the United Way and Missouri Foundation for Health to get pointed in the right direction. Homeless Prevention & RAPID RE-HOUSING PROGRAM GRANT - St. Louis County has received funds to help people 60 and older who live in St. Louis County to stabilize their housing situation or re-house those who have lost their housing. Attached is more information or you can call 615-4516

The City has passed an Ordinance dealing with Pods and Dumpsters parked in driveways. If you already have one, you were probably notified that you had 30 days to remove it. If you need more time, you have to get a $25 permit from City Hall. For more information call 867-0076 and ask for the Building Department.

Neighborhood Watch

If you would like to get more involved in your community, attend a Neighborhood Watch Meeting on the 1st Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at City Hall.

Bellefontaine Neighbors is proud to have started the Neighborhood Ownership Model Program led by Sgt. Peggy Vassallo (see Workshops listed above). This Program is designed to provide ideas for citizens to create their own Plan to reduce crime and increase the quality of life in our community. GET INVOLVED! For more information, call Sgt.
