The Standard & Poor's recent release states that certain municipalities including The City of Bellefontaine Neighbors bond rating has been withdrawn by Moody’s Investment Services, a New York-based provider of credit ratings and risk analysis.
Bond ratings are used to determine a borrower’s ability to pay off a loan or bond issue. The ratings go from AAA to DDD-, with AAA being the highest and best rating and D the lowest. Moody’s rating service also has a “WR” designation, which means the rating has been withdrawn.
The decision was made “because it (Moody’s) believed it had insufficient or otherwise inadequate information to support the maintenance of the rating.” In other words, the city’s fiscal 2021 audit is not completed.
“I pray that we can rectify this situation in the upcoming weeks so that Moody’s Investor Service will have all the necessary information to reconcile this matter in an expedited manner,”
Angela Dorn, CPA Partner for Sikich, LLP, Lori Lenz, Director of Finance and myself will be working to complete the 2021 audit by or no later than Friday May 19, 2023.
Any questions or concerns can be directed to our Treasurer Rick Rognan at Rognan & Associates, 616 Applecross Ct. Ballwin, MO 63021, (636) 391-9831 or Angela Dorn CPA for Sikich at 12655 Olive Blvd. 63141 or (314) 453-0936.
